The shooter Vertigo 2 is already one of the VR game highlights of 2023. The Half-Life homage is also coming to PSVR 2.
In our MIXED review, Vertigo 2 proved to be an exciting and well-balanced VR shooter. This is all the more astonishing as one person essentially developed the game. Creator Zach Tsiakalis-Brown aka Zulubo Productions had already expressed his interest in a Playstation VR 2 release and has now made it official. Vertigo 2 will be released for PSVR 2 at the end of 2023.
The port is a collaboration with publisher Perp Games, who revealed it during their VR Summer Showcase. Both a download and retail version are in the works.
Half-Life tribute Vertigo 2 coming to PSVR 2
One advantage of the solo effort is that Tsiakalis-Brown was able to pursue his creative vision in a linear story mode filled with bizarre aliens. The Half-Life series served as his main inspiration.
The level editor, which can be operated directly in VR, will also be available on PSVR 2. It was first released in Early Access on PC.
Vertigo 2: New update for SteamVR version brings new characters
The full-featured editor will be included in a final major update for PC. This allows creative hobbyists to import their own textures, sounds, and models. The free update will also bring three new playable characters. After completing the campaign for the first time, Brian, Officer 13 and Nani will be available as heroes.
Brian’s fast movement gives the adventure the flair of a boomer shooter in the style of titles like Doom. Instead of automatic reloading, ammunition and first-aid kits are available as pickups.
The battle drone Officer 13 brings more health and a holographic HUD with helpful enemy statistics. Nani, on the other hand, is capable of levitation, telekinesis and magical attacks. In return, he has to live with more recoil when shooting.
Vertigo 2, which is available for SteamVR, will be released for Playstation VR 2 at the end of 2023.
